Congratulations to the 2025 GEM Scott Teaching Fellowship recipients

Associate Professor Sarah Frankland and Dr Christopher Honig have been awarded the 2025 GEM Scott Teaching Fellowships for excellence in educational scholarship and practice.

The fellowships are awarded to emerging leaders excelling in their field of educational scholarship and practice who are undertaking significant teaching and learning projects and are named in honour of medical practitioner George Ernest Mueller Scott.

Each fellowship is awarded up to $70,000 for the project.

Associate Professor Sarah Frankland, from the Faculty of Science received the fellowship for the project ‘Transition pedagogy: the role of self-regulated learning and GenAI’.

Dr Christopher Honig, from the Faculty of Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, received the fellowship for the project ‘Agile GenAI teaching hub: rapid, evidence-based integration of generative AI into classroom practice’.

The University places great emphasis on excellence in teaching and learning and actively promote opportunities for educators to further enhance their practice.

This year’s Fellowships reflect the University’s pioneering work to harness AI to support students’ learning and teachers’ practice and are of significant strategic value to the University.

The Fellows themselves will act as leaders and mentors in teaching and learning.
