Byron Collins
Provides a full range of class leading information technology and facilities management services to all operating entities of the University, and fit for purpose and efficient Finance, HR and OHS services.
Byron has led the Infrastructure Services portfolio since its inception in 2014, initially focussed on operational service delivery of information technology and facilities management. In 2016 the role of Chief Technology Officer was added to his responsibilities, adding information technology strategy and project delivery to the portfolio. Byron leads a team of over 500 professional staff across a range of disciplines including IT, Space Management, Facilities Management, Research Computing and Bioresources Management.
Prior to joining the University, Byron had an extensive career in consulting and corporate leadership roles, including responsibility for a variety of shared services. His leadership career includes stints at IBM, SMS Consulting and AWB Limited, notably as Chief Information Officer and General Manager Shared Services.
Byron is a Director of the Victorian Education and Research Network (VERNet) and holds a Master of Business Administration from Melbourne Business School and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Melbourne.
