Director, Strategic Communications


The Director, Strategic Communications is responsible for leading internal and external communications, leadership communications, media relations, events and other stakeholder engagement activities aligned with the University’s strategy.

As the University’s lead communications strategist, Nardia Dazkiw plays a pivotal role in protecting and elevating the institution’s global reputation. Providing strategic counsel to the University’s senior leaders, Nardia ensures that communication activities are aligned with strategic priorities. This includes the development of communication strategies to help fulfil the University’s purpose and academic mission, and to promote the institution’s contributions to education and research for the benefit of society.

Nardia oversees communication efforts across the Strategic Communications team to engage a wide range of internal and external audiences, informed by data and insights. This includes students, staff, alumni, donors, media, industry and community partners, governments, policy makers and the public.

Nardia joined the institution in 2020 to establish the Strategic Communications function for the University, which has since expanded to encompass communications for all faculties and graduate schools.

Prior to joining the University, Nardia led corporate affairs, communications, media and marketing teams in the corporate and government sectors in Australia, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. Nardia also served as a key adviser to the Australian Minister for Finance during the global financial crisis.

An alum of the University of Melbourne, Nardia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and a Diploma in Modern Languages (Indonesian).
