The Vice-Principal (Advancement) provides leadership for advancement strategy, culture and practice and oversees the University of Melbourne’s alumni relations and philanthropic campaigns.
Advancement works with colleagues across the University of Melbourne and its affiliates to facilitate mutually beneficial relationships between the University and its alumni, friends and benefactors.
Through Believe – the Campaign for the University of Melbourne, the Advancement team aims to match the generosity and enthusiasm of the community with the causes they feel passionate about.
The Campaign seeks to engage 100 000 of our alumni community in the life of the University and raise $1 billion by 2021.
The support given through the Campaign is already having immense impact on our students, research and community engagement programs.

Alumni & Stakeholder Relations connects the University of Melbourne with a community of more than 360 000 alumni around the world, building lifelong relationships. It oversees alumni events, communications and marketing, advocacy and recognition programs, regular giving, and student experience and benefits.
The Director of Advancement for Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, leads a development programs and a number of alumni relations programs across these areas, working closely with colleagues across the University to develop a culture of philanthropy.
The Director, Development oversees the strategy for University-wide fundraising across Australia and internationally through a range of programs that include principal and major gifts, gifts in wills (bequests and planned gifts), donor relations, and research and prospective donor management.
The Director of Advancement, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences leads alumni relations and philanthropic programs for the Faculty, fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders, including major donors, hospitals and research institute partners.
The Director of Advancement for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) focuses on connecting people and partners to their passions through giving and engagement that advances the positive impacts that science in all its wonder and applications brings to the world around us.
Operations delivers advancement support and services to faculties and Chancellery to enable the University of Melbourne’s connection with its alumni and philanthropic community to thrive. It encompasses Advancement Information and Analytics, Financial Services, Business Services, Gift Agreements and Advancement Services.
