Owen Shemansky

Director, Melbourne Professional Education


The Director, Melbourne Professional Education leads the University’s professional education portfolio, partnering with faculties, industry, government and community organisations to develop and deliver short courses, microcredentials and tailored workforce development programs.

Owen Shemansky is Director of Melbourne Professional Education in the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education). He leads the University’s professional and lifelong learning portfolio, helping connect University expertise with the needs of organisations, industries and professionals.

Owen has worked in education for more than 20 years, holding leadership roles across academic schools, student services, strategy, operations, digital learning and professional education in Australia and Poland. He has been at the University of Melbourne since 2019.

His work spans workforce capability, learning analytics, digital learning, organisational partnerships and education strategy. He has led initiatives ranging from large-scale workforce development programs and professional education partnerships to student experience, service improvement and organisational transformation. His focus is on designing practical, scalable education models that create value for learners, organisations and the broader community.
