Executive Director, Indigenous Strategy and Operations


The Executive Director, Indigenous Strategy and Operations is a member of the executive leadership team working in partnership with the DVC Indigenous and PVC Indigenous. The role is responsible for the operations, governance, budget and execution of strategy implementation of Murmuk Djerring.

Kirsten Emes is Executive Director, in the University’s inaugural Indigenous Portfolio, working in close partnership with Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous) Professor Barry Judd across Indigenous student services, staff, community engagement and strategy.

With over 15 years' experience in higher education executive leadership across Australia and the UK, including as Chief of Staff to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Senior Vice-President at Monash University, Kirsten is a trusted adviser and strategist with deep expertise in governance, stakeholder engagement and organisational strategy. She holds a Master of Management and Public Policy and a Bachelor of Arts (History and Australian Indigenous Studies) from Monash University, and is a Board Director of Dress for Success Victoria.
