David Crawford receives Faculty of Business and Economics Alumni of Distinction Award for Outstanding Achievement

David Crawford has received the Faculty of Business and Economics Alumni of Distinction Award for Outstanding Achievement.

The Outstanding Achievement Award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated long term, sustained and outstanding achievement and leadership in business, government and the non-profit sector.

This award recognises the outstanding passion and leadership Mr Crawford has demonstrated throughout his distinguished career, including his involvement in numerous public companies, his focus on the review and restructure of national sporting bodies, and his contributions to arts and educational organisations.

A truly deserving recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award, Mr Crawford conducted a game-changing review of the AFL – The David Crawford Report – in the 1990s, which played a pivotal role in the creation of the AFL’s commission structure.

Following this, he contributed to the Federal Government’s Independent Soccer Inquiry – The Crawford Report – of Soccer Australia in 2003, chaired the Federal Government’s Committee for The Future of Sport in Australia report in 2009 as Chairman of the Independent Sport Panel, contributed to the Thoroughbred Racing Industry Review for Racing Victoria in 2007 and co-authored Cricket Australia’s Crawford and Carter Governance Review in 2011.

Mr Crawford has held senior executive positions with the Australian Ballet, the Melbourne Cricket Club, LendLease Corporation Limited, Australia Pacific Airports Corporation Limited, National Foods Limited and Westpac Banking Corporation.
