Dr Amanda Baric receives Order of the Polar Star award

The Mongolian government has presented Dr Amanda Baric with the country’s highest civilian award

Dr Amanda Baric received the Order of the Polar Star from the Mongolian government at a ceremony held at the Mongolian embassy in Canberra on 3 December 2021.

This prestigious award recognises the work and commitment of Dr Baric and her team over the last fifteen years to provide safe and high quality anaesthesia and surgery in the country.

The Order of the Polar Star is Mongolia’s highest civilian award that recognises special merits in society. Previous recipients include President Barack Obama and former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Dr Baric is an anaesthetist in the Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at Northern Health and is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.

The Department of Critical Care (DoCC) within the Melbourne Medical School promotes multi-centre research with the Departments of Anaesthesia, Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine at the 20 hospitals affiliated with the University.
