Professor Shanton Chang, Associate Dean (International) of the Faculty of Engineering and IT, has been recognised for his distinguished contribution to international education in Australia with an International Education Association of Australia (IEAA) Excellence Award.

IEAA celebrates leaders and innovators in international education, recognising trailblazers in Australia’s international education sector.

These annual awards recognise and celebrate outstanding contributions in building Australia’s reputation for quality and innovation in international education.

Professor Chang’s contribution to international student wellbeing and employability spans three decades, and includes notable achievements with a number of international student associations.

He has led research into the digital behaviour of international students, promoted collaborative work on intercultural engagements, implemented in institutions globally, and remains committed to supporting international students through leadership, research, practice, and service.

IEAA Vice-President Professor Simon Ridings said a common thread among this year’s awardees was their resilience in the face of challenge and their commitment to enhancing the student experience.

"After another challenging year for our sector, we continue to see amazing innovations and outstanding contributions from colleagues," Professor Ridings said.

Congratulations are in order to Professor Chang for his role in making the international education sector what it is today.
