Professor Alastair Sloan honoured with Isaac Schour Memorial Award for exemplary dental research

Head of the Melbourne Dental School Professor Alastair Sloan has been named as the recipient for The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) Isaac Schour Memorial Award.

Professor Sloan is an expert in tissue engineering and dental biology.

His research focuses on the regeneration of mineralised tissues and the behaviour and therapeutic use of dental pulp stem cells.

Professor Sloan's lab is also focused on bacterial invasion and attachment in mineralised tissue infections, and novel drug delivery mechanisms for antimicrobial agents.

In congratulating Professor Sloan, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, Professor Jane Gunn said this is a prestigious acknowledgement of Professor Sloan’s hard work, his exemplary and innovative research and his standing as an academic.
