Professor Amanda Ellis elected RACI President

Professor Amanda Ellis

Professor Amanda Ellis, Head of the School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, has been elected President of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI).

With a distinguished career spanning academia, research and leadership, Professor Ellis was a member of the RACI Board between 2016 and 2019 and has served as President-Elect since 2022. Her work focuses on surface science, nanotechnology and energy innovation, supported by over $30 million in competitive funding.

“I’m honoured to lead the RACI with a focus on being the voice for chemistry in Australia, with over 3700 members and growing. We are united with other societies globally as advocates for STEM for society,” Professor Ellis said.

RACI, established in 1917, is Australia’s leading professional body for chemistry. Professor Ellis’s election highlights her dedication to shaping the future of the chemical sciences.
