Professor Ingrid Scheffer AO receives American Neurological Association award

Professor Ingrid Scheffer AO has been announced the winner of the F.E. Bennett Memorial Lectureship by the American Neurological Association (ANA) at the 2021 Awards for Outstanding Accomplishments in Academic Neurology and Neuroscience.

The ANA Awards recognise leaders in the fields of neurology and neuroscience, for excellence in research, teaching and clinical practice.

The Lectureship will be bestowed in recognition of Professor Scheffer’s presentation titled Genetic Basis of Epilepsy.

Professor Scheffer is a paediatric neurologist and epileptologist at the University of Melbourne and Austin Health.

She has led the field of epilepsy genetics for more than 20 years, in collaboration with Professor Samuel Berkovic and molecular geneticists.

The award was presented during the 146th ANA Annual Meeting on Monday 18 October.
