Redefining Performance Training video wins a 2026 CASE Circle of Excellence Award

A video produced by the University of Melbourne’s Video and Media team has received a Bronze 2026 CASE Circle of Excellence Award in the News and Research Video category. The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) is a global nonprofit association dedicated to educational advancement and championing education to transform lives and society.

The award-winning video, Redefining Performance Training, showcases an innovative virtual reality application designed to help musicians and students overcome stage fright through immersive performance simulations.

Produced and directed by J’nel Buchy, the video features the research work of Dr Solange Glasser (FFAM), Ben Loveridge (Scholarly Services) and Associate Professor Margaret Osborne (MDHS), highlighting how virtual reality can recreate realistic performance environments where students can practise techniques, build confidence and prepare for live performances. The Video ana Media team who worked on the project also included Ben Loveridge and Rob Nairn.

Selected from more than 4,185 entries submitted by institutions across 33 countries, the video was recognised for its engaging storytelling and its ability to make a complex technology accessible and relevant to audiences.

The virtual performance simulation project reflects the University’s ongoing exploration of immersive technologies that enhance teaching and learning through authentic, practical work integrated learning experiences.
