Researchers awarded Australia India Research Students Fellowships

The University of Melbourne has four Australia India Research Students (AIRS) Fellows in 2023.

Four University of Melbourne researchers have been awarded an Australia India Research Students (AIRS) Fellowship for 2023.

The bilateral program, led by the Australia India Institute and funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Education, supports research collaboration and student mobility between the two countries.

The four University of Melbourne Fellows join a group of 28 Australian and 35 Indian research students and early-career researchers who will undertake short-term research exchanges of between four and eight weeks.

Fellows will work on impactful topics with a research mentor at their host institution.

The University of Melbourne Fellows are:

  • Dr Anamitra Roy from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, who will be hosted by the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
  • Ms Rachel Blance-Palmer, PhD candidate in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, who will be hosted by Rajagiri College of Social Sciences.
  • Dr Sajitha Biju from the Faculty of Science, who will be hosted by Plaksha University.
  • Ms Shuai Shao, PhD candidate in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, who will be hosted by Christian Medical College, Vellore.

Eight Indian Fellows will also be hosted by the University of Melbourne in 2023:

  • Mr Bharath Rathinam, from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-sciences
  • Ms Jyoti Arora, from Jawaharlal Nehru University
  • Ms Lorane Scaria, from Rajagiri College of Social Sciences
  • Mr Manideep Roy, from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur
  • Ms Mansi, from the Indian Institute of Public Health
  • Ms Rahee S. G, from Jawaharlal Nehru University
  • Mr Ramengmawia Bawitlung, from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay
  • Mr Shubham Vishwakarma, from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Tirupati
