University of Melbourne ranks in top 10 universities worldwide for graduate employability

The University of Melbourne moves into the ranks of the top 10 best universities in the world for employability outcomes for its graduates, according the 2018 QS Graduate Employability Rankings.

It now sits at seventh in the world, moving up from 11th the previous year.

The Melbourne Model of broad undergraduate studies with postgraduate specialisation lies at the heart of this success, believes University of Melbourne Provost Margaret Sheil.

“The Melbourne Model delivers resilient graduates who enter the workplace with a highly desirable blend of technical, communication and interpersonal skills,” Professor Sheil said.

“We introduced the Melbourne Model to respond to the changing world of work. As professional life becomes more complex, universities must equip their students with a more diverse and flexible skill set.

“In a crowded marketplace, a specialised postgraduate qualification helps our students stand out to employers.”

The ranking is based on five elements: employer reputation, alumni outcomes, partnerships with employers, employer-student connections and graduate employment rate.
