Laureate Professor Peter Doherty (1940-)

Laureate Professor Doherty discovered how the immune system recognises virus-ridden cells. This has led to the development of life-saving vaccines and new treatments for cancer. Laureate Professor Doherty commutes between St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, and the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity at the University of Melbourne.
