Baillieu Furniture Study
Take a seat and have your say about informal study spaces
A furniture study has just been launched on Level 3 of the Baillieu Library, inviting library users to share their thoughts on the types of study spaces and furniture they would like to see more of on campus.
The initiative responds to feedback from the 2023 Parkville Campus Experience Survey, which highlighted the need for more comfortable study spaces across the University. In line with this, the University is committed to enhancing study environments and has launched this study to gather insights that will shape future campus improvements.
Taking place in Semester 1, 2025, the study features five distinct study activation zones, where students are encouraged to sit, test, and review different furniture and spatial arrangements.
Your feedback will help shape:
- The future design of library and informal study spaces across the University.
- The Baillieu Library Redevelopment, which is currently underway.
Get Involved
Come along to explore, sit, and study in one — or all — of the five study activation zones. Whether you're reading solo or collaborating with a study group, these spaces are open for use and review.
Students can provide feedback in one of two ways:
- Short Survey:
- A 5-minute survey will be accessible via QR codes throughout the space.
- By completing the survey, students will go into the draw to win one of four $250 Prepaid Mastercard gift cards.
- Student Diary Review:
- 20 students will be recruited to study in three different activation zones over a two-week period.
- Participants will complete a detailed diary review of their experience and preferences.
- Selected students will receive $150 in payment for 5.5 hours of their time.
