Indigenous Talent

The Careers and Employability team can connect you with our talented Indigenous students and recent graduates who bring a depth of knowledge and skills, and the flexibility to adapt to the changing world of work.

Advertise your employment opportunities to UoM Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and find out what your organisation can do to attract and retain Indigenous talent.

Post a job - Promote your employment and work experience opportunities to the University of Melbourne’s official online careers resource Careers Online. All students are directed to the jobs portal and provided with the necessary career development teaching and resources to find a role that fits their needs. All job advertisements must comply with relevant Fairwork legislation and our terms and conditions for advertising.

  • Include text such as “Indigenous Australians are encouraged to apply” or “position for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander student only” to make your message clear.
  • Ensure that your job advertisement uses clear language, detailing the main responsibilities and remuneration.
  • Refer to inclusive practices and explain the available support at your organisation (see below).

Your job may be selected for further promotion to Indigenous students by the university’s internal Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander support team. They select opportunities from Careers Online and may opt to share these on a variety of student platforms and channels subject to space, alignment and discretion.
