Dookie Campus wins Smart Building Award
New student accommodation at Dookie Campus recognised at Smart Building Awards
The University of Melbourne’s new student accommodation at Dookie campus has been recognised at the PrefabAUS Smart Building Industry Awards, winning the award for Excellence in Prefabricated Building – Hospitality.
The Smart Building Industry Awards celebrate excellence, innovation, and sustainability in Australia’s prefabricated building sector. With 49 submissions in 2025, the Award has recognised the project as a leading example of smart, sustainable design and construction.
Delivered through a joint investment by the Victorian Government and the University of Melbourne, the project has introduced 85 new ensuite rooms and shared spaces, offering modern, comfortable accommodation that enhances student living options at the Dookie campus.
Key features include:
- 85 ensuite student units designed for comfort and privacy
- Large communal kitchen and living areas as the social hub
- A landscaped courtyard centred around existing mature trees.
Established in 1886, Dookie Campus continues to serve as a leading centre for agricultural research, teaching, and innovation. This award-winning accommodation further strengthens its role in providing supportive, high-quality living and learning environments for students across Victoria.
