The University of Melbourne is a proud member of Supply Nation and is committed to increasing positive social impact, including Indigenous engagement, through our procurement activities. Supply Nation provides Australia's largest national directory of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses. By working closely with these businesses, together with procurement teams from government, corporate and not-for-profit organisations, Supply Nation encourages and helps shape today’s emerging and rapidly evolving Indigenous business sector.
As part of the University's Reconciliation Action Plan April 2018 – December 2022, we have committed to developing an Indigenous Procurement Strategy with associated targets:
- to stimulate Indigenous entrepreneurship and business development
- to create employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians
- to expose the wider University community to the expertise and diversity offered by these businesses.
