Process mining platform Apromore to take up residence at Melbourne Connect

The University of Melbourne has announced that its fast-growing process mining spin-off, Apromore, will take up residence in its new innovation precinct, Melbourne Connect.

Since its incubation in a University of Melbourne lab, the Apromore team has grown in leaps and bounds. Its process mining platform, which has attracted millions of dollars in investment, draws on international collaboration and is backed by over a decade of research.

With easy access to ongoing research and development, fresh thinking and top talent, the move to Melbourne Connect was a no-brainer for the organisation, who will now be able to access the best minds in technology and research under one roof.

CEO and Co-Founder Professor Marcello La Rosa, also a professor of Information Systems at the University of Melbourne, said the organisation was thrilled to make Melbourne Connect its new home.

“Being surrounded by some of the greatest startups in the country, and literally next door to the University of Melbourne's School of Computing and Information Systems - my own school - which hosts some of the world-leading research groups in such areas as process mining, AI and human-computer interaction, creates the perfect environment for Apromore to continuously learn, experiment and co-innovate, which is in the very nature of our company,” he said.

Professor Mark Hargreaves, Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research), the University of Melbourne, said that the University was delighted that Apromore would be locating its global headquarters in Melbourne Connect.

“Apromore’s location in Melbourne Connect enables a close and continuing R&D relationship with our world-leading process mining research group, in the heart of a precinct dedicated to digital transformation and innovation,” he said.

With Apromore process mining, users are enabled to accelerate their process improvement cycle, allowing them to gain digital transparency of their processes and achieve their operational excellence goals significantly faster than with traditional analysis methods.

Apromore joins a host of collocated partners in calling Melbourne Connect home including the University’s Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, the Complex Human Data Hub, Melbourne Centre for Data Science (MCDS), the Centre for Digital Transformation of Health, and the ARC Training Centre in Optimisation Technologies, Integrated Methodologies and Applications (OPTIMA) and a range of industry partners including ANZSOG, Maxoniq, SANE Australia and ClarkeHopkinsClarke.

Location in the precinct also means easy access to some of Australia’s top emerging entrepreneurial talent through the Melbourne Entrepreneurial Centre, which is comprised of the Melbourne Accelerator Program (MAP) and Translating Research at Melbourne (TRAM).
