University academics named Fellows of the Australian Academy of the Humanities

Professor Jane Davidson, Associate Professor Nick Thieberger and Associate Professor Frederik Vervaet have been named Fellows of the Australian Academy of the Humanities in 2021.

Election as Fellows of the Australian Academy of Humanities is the highest recognition of achievement and contribution to the humanities in Australia. The Academy was established in 1969 to advance knowledge and the pursuit of excellence in the humanities.

Professor Jane Davidson has been awarded for her contribution to music performance, music psychology and education, stage directing, body-movement in expressive music performance, the history of perception and expression of emotions in music and the impact of group singing on wellbeing.

Associate Professor Nick Thieberger has been awarded for his contribution to digital humanities research on Indigenous Australian and Pacific languages and cultures, South Efate language of Vanuatu and the PARADISEC archive for endangered languages and cultures.

Associate Professor Frederik Vervaet has been awarded for his contribution to ancient history and Roman history, specialising in socio-political history and public law.

The election of Professor Davidson, Associate Professor Thieberger, and Associate Professor Vervaet as Fellows is testament to the outstanding contribution they have made to their disciplines and the high regard in which they are held by their peers in the humanities community, both in Australia and internationally.
