Three University of Melbourne academics from the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences and Business and Economics were awarded the 2023 Reel Impact Prize at a film screening and panel event on 24 July.

Associate Professor Vikram Bhakoo received the award for his entry, Combating Modern Slavery in Global Supply Chains, and Dr Alexis Ceecee Britten-Jones and Parker Truong were recognised for their entry, Sight and Insight: Unlocking treatment and knowledge for Inherited Retinal Diseases.

The Reel Impact Prize encourages academic staff to develop succinct and creative research translations that describe and communicate their impact within society to a non-specialist audience. The initiative is part of a broader effort to build and enable a culture of research impact across the University to ensure that discoveries and ideas create meaningful and positive changes within society.
