Professor Abbas Rajabifard receives prestigious Fellowship for big data and sustainability contributions
Professor Abbas Rajabifard, Associate Dean of Sustainability in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, has been awarded a Fellowship from the International Research Centre of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (CBAS).
The Fellowship, regarded as the highest accolade from CBAS, was presented during the 4th International Forum on Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) held earlier this month in Beijing, China.
The Fellowship recognises global scientific leaders for their outstanding achievements and contributions in advancing sustainable development through technological innovation, specifically by using science and technology to support the implementation of the United Nations' SDGs.
“Receiving this Fellowship is truly humbling," Professor Rajabifard said. “By integrating technology and scientific insights, we can make significant strides toward achieving the SDGs, particularly in the areas of climate action, resource management, and sustainable cities.”
CBAS, which was formally established at the 75th United Nations General Assembly in 2020, is working on five key missions: developing SDG big data platform, conducting SDG monitoring and evaluation, developing SDG Satellites, becoming a think-tank for SDGs, and capacity development for developing countries.
