“I am delighted to be elected as a fellow of the Academy and for this recognition of my contributions to research and academic leadership,” Professor McGregor said.

“I am looking forward to contributing to the broader community of social science scholars in Australia through the ongoing work of the Academy. This opportunity will also enable me to recognise research excellence and advocate more broadly for the importance of the social sciences.”

Professor McGregor has also served as Vice President, then President of the Asian Studies Association of Australia, and has played a significant role in training the next generation of researchers in Southeast Asian history, supervising 21 PhD completions to date.
