University of Melbourne researchers secure MMT grant
University of Melbourne researchers Dr Sonja Molnar and Professor Jackie Dutton have received a Melbourne-Manchester-Toronto (MMT) grant together with the Global Humanities Alliance (GHA) Working Group on Sustainability and Climate Change.
The MMT grant recognises the strong bilateral partnership between the University of Melbourne, the University of Manchester and the University of Toronto and provides initial support for the development of high-quality research activities.
The research project, titled ‘Fighting eco-anxiety and building eco-resilience: place-based pedagogies and sensory-embodied strategies ’ has received AUD $14,300, GBP £8,976 and CAD $13,670.
The project brings together six GHA partners to investigate the impact of climate change narratives on young adults’ worldviews and mental wellbeing, road testing strategies to improve their resilience.
The interdisciplinary team will survey university students aged 18 to 25 in Melbourne, Toronto, Manchester, Santiago, Nairobi and Yogyakarta.
The GHA is a signature international initiative from the Faculty of Arts, which aims to raise the social and political impact of the humanities and social sciences through an emphasis on a program of research and teaching that takes up global issues, incorporates diverse global perspectives and brings scholars and students together for critical conversations.
