Mentoring programs at the University of Melbourne connect students with alumni and industry professionals to support their career readiness and prepare them for lives of professional contribution.
Through a structured one-to-one relationship, students receive crucial guidance and support in the early stages of career planning.
Discipline-specific mentoring programs
The Architecture Building and Planning (ABP) Industry Mentoring Program matches second-and third-year Bachelor of Design and graduate coursework students with alumni and industry experts.
The Faculty of Business and Economics (FBE) Career Mentoring Program matches final year Bachelor of Commerce and specialist masters students with industry experts.
The Melbourne Law School (MLS) Mentoring Program connects Juris Doctor students (any year of their degree) and full-time international MLM students with a law alumni and industry mentors who have at least three years of professional experience.
The Medicine, Dentistry and Health Science (MDHS) Career Mentoring Program connects students in their final years of study in select degrees with an experienced alumni mentor. Mentors in this program must be University of Melbourne alumni.
The STEM Industry Mentoring Program connects students studying a Science undergraduate, postgraduate or graduate research degree, or Engineering or IT postgraduate student with alumni or an industry partner.
University-wide programs
The Ask Alumni platform supports industry networking by facilitating short, one-off career conversations. As a mentor, you can help guide both alumni and students at different stages of their studies and careers. Available to University of Melbourne alumni and students only.
Access Melbourne students in second and third year of their undergraduate studies are encouraged to apply for the University’s career mentoring program even if they are not eligible under their faculty eligibility criteria. Career mentoring for Access Melbourne students aims to improve post-study outcomes for under-represented students who have faced unique circumstances. Access Melbourne students are those who have been awarded a place under the Access Melbourne special entry scheme during the admissions process
