Overview
From Semester 1, 2027, the eastern Ground Floor of the Kwong Lee Dow Building (KLD) will become a new interactive learning space – built to meet a critical and growing need for technology-enabled collaborative teaching and learning at the University.
This new space is part of strengthening the University's commitment to educational excellence, as outlined in Strategy 2030: Resilience, and enabling contemporary teaching and learning practices – envisioned in our Advancing Students and Education Strategy.

This space adds a new option to our growing range of teaching environments, supporting the many class styles at the University.

Feedback from staff and students using the new space will help shape future teaching and learning facilities, including within the University's planned Central Education Building.

Managing Construction Disruption
Keeping the campus safe and operational during construction is a priority. Construction is confined to the eastern Ground Floor of KLD and is fully hoarded (fenced off) for the duration of the works.
Disruptive or noisy activities will be scheduled outside teaching and exam hours – on weekends, evenings or during breaks – where possible, to minimise impact on staff and students.
Building Access
Access to the Kwong Lee Dow Building for staff, students and visitors will be maintained throughout construction. The builders' main access point will be through the entrance on Leicester Street, which they will share with staff and students along with toilets on the Ground Floor. Additional cleaning has been scheduled during this period. Other amenities and student gathering spaces outside the construction zone are not expected to be affected.
