Chancellor’s Report

Council received updates on the ongoing government inquiries and consultations into university governance, including the Senate Committee Inquiry Interim Report. Council members received a briefing on their responsibilities in relation to Whistleblower protection.

Vice-Chancellor’s Report

Council noted the Vice-Chancellor’s Report, which included an update on the planned refresh of the University’s Strategy.

President of Academic Board’s Report

The President of the Academic Board reported on the most recent meeting of Academic Board and provided an update on the Academic Board membership model review.

Committee Business

Council Committee reports were received from the Finance Committee, Audit and Risk Committee, Gift Committee, and the Human Resources, Remuneration and Employment Compliance Committee.

Strategic Plans

Council discussed the progress of implementation of the Advancing Students and Education Strategy and Advancing Melbourne Globally.

Faculty of Engineering and Information and Technology

Council received a presentation from the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information and Technology providing an overview of the Faculty’s activities and strategic objectives.

Other Business

Council approved appointments to the Board of the Melbourne Theatre Company, a department of the University, and to the Board of the Australian National Academy of Music Ltd (ANAM).

Council discussed the results of the 2024 QILT Student Experience Survey.

The next Council meeting will be held on 3 December 2025.
