Chancellor’s Report

Council approved revisions to the Standing Resolutions of Council and to the Council Charter contained within the Standing Resolutions.

Vice-Chancellor’s Report

Council noted the Acting Vice-Chancellor’s Report, which included updates on:

  • The University’s Anti-Racism Action Plan, which has been completed and is due to be launched in August, with implementation activities to follow.
  • A new seminar series, In Pursuit of Knowledge, under development with Vice-Chancellor’s Fellow Jon Faine. The series aims to provide a respectful environment for the discussion of controversial issues.

President of Academic Board’s Report

The President of the Academic Board reported on the previous meeting of the Academic Board.  The President noted that the report on the academic governance landscape review has been received.

Melbourne Business School

The Dean of the Melbourne Business School (MBS) presented to Council, providing an overview of MBS’ corporate structure, core activities, and finances.

Director Appointments

Council approved the appointment of directors to the Boards of UoM International Holdings Pty Ltd, Melbourne Teaching Health Clinics Ltd, and the Australian National Academy of Music Ltd.

Committee Business

Council Committee reports from the Finance and Gift Committees were noted. Council approved changes to the Terms of Reference of the Investment Management Committee and approved a new external member of that Committee.

The next Council meeting will be held on 16 October 2024.
