The University respects the privacy of anyone who interacts with us and is committed to protecting and managing personal and health information fairly and lawfully.
The University has obligations regarding the collection, use and management of individuals’ personal and health information under the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic) and the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic). To the extent that they apply to our activities, the University is also subject to the requirements of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the European Union General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (which relates to the personal information of individuals located in the European Economic Area).
The University’s Privacy Policy (MPF1104) affirms the University’s commitment to the privacy and data protection principles contained in these privacy laws. This policy applies to all areas of the University. Any person who deals with the University is entitled to expect that their personal and health information will be treated in accordance with this policy.
The University Secretary is the University’s designated Privacy and Data Protection Officer. The privacy team in the Legal and Risk portfolio provide guidance on privacy obligations and responsibilities.
