Dr Hayley Bugeja and Dr Eduardo Oliveira have been awarded the 2024 GEM Scott Teaching Fellowships for excellence in educational scholarship and practice.

Named after a bequest from medical practitioner George Ernest Mueller Scott, the fellowships are awarded annually to recognise exceptional teaching at the University of Melbourne and support endeavours that are contributing to an enhanced student experience. This includes curriculum design, teaching, learning, assessment and innovative pedagogical practices.

Dr Hayley Bugeja from the Faculty of Science received the fellowship for the project ‘How far are we away from programmatic assessment in undergraduate science majors?'

Dr Eduardo Oliveira from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology received the fellowship for the project ‘Design and Development of a Canvas-based Approach to Foster AI Literacy at Scale’.

The University of Melbourne places great emphasis on excellence in education. The projects undertaken by the GEM Scott Teaching Fellows are of significant strategic value to the University, and the Fellows themselves will act as leaders and mentors in teaching and learning.
