Andrew Devine awarded the Universitas 21 Scholarship for professional staff

Andrew Devine has received the U21 Scholarship for professional staff.

Andrew Devine, Manager Student Advising (Course Planning), in Student and Scholarly Services at the University of Melbourne has been awarded the Universitas 21 Scholarship for professional staff.

The scholarship recognises outstanding performance, provides development opportunities for recipients and benefits the University through the advancement of its administrative and management practices.

Through the scholarship, Mr Devine will travel to several U21 institutions (Lund University, KU Leuven, and University of Amsterdam) and University exchange partners (Ghent University and Erasmus University) in Europe - all with broad undergraduate offerings and large student cohorts - to observe how they manage the provision of student advisory services.

His visit will inform the Student Services Transformation Program, part of the University’s Advancing Students and Education Strategy. The program aims to provide student advising services that are tailored to students’ area of study, and will connect centrally-managed course advising activities with faculty-based academic advising services.

This change will facilitate collaboration between central services and faculties to provide end-to-end advisory services for students that will enhance student and staff experience at the University.

The professional scholarship's key objective is to enable professional staff to develop their expertise, pass on their learnings, and strengthen links with other U21 institutions.
