FVAS lecturer receives Australian Veterinary Association Excellence in Teaching award

Dr Laura Dooley's award recognises her outstanding contributions to student learning.

Announced recently at the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) conference, Dr Laura Dooley has received the AVA's Excellence in Teaching award, the premier teaching award of the AVA.

This award recognises the quality teaching practice and outstanding contributions to student learning in the area of veterinary sciences, para-veterinary or animal sciences programs.

Dr Dooley received this award in recognition for the many initiatives that she has led including many LTI grants, journal papers in international journals such as the Journal of Veterinary Medical Education, conference presentations and leadership roles including in the AVA special interest group for education and research.

Dr Dooley said it was an honour to be the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching award for 2022.

"I have always aimed to place the student experience at the heart of all my teaching work, and we are lucky to have an incredibly talented group of DVM students here at the University of Melbourne."

In 2019 another Faculty member, Dr Natalie Courtman, was awarded the AVA Excellence in Teaching Award.
