World Cancer Day awards for early career researchers

Cure Cancer supports early career researchers for World Cancer Day 2023.

Several promising early careers researchers within the Melbourne biomedical precinct have been awarded grants of up to $100,000 each to advance their cancer research.

The community is reminded that World Cancer Day (February 4) sheds light on the importance of understanding cancer and addressing the gaps in knowledge to improve treatment and prevention of cancer.

Cure Cancer is an Australian organisation that funds early-career cancer researchers who are working across all cancers and all areas of cancer research. They are dedicated to funding emerging leaders and aim to support these early-career researchers with their career development.

New, bold ideas that come from emerging scientists can help achieve breakthroughs and make a lasting impact on everyone affected by cancer.

Congratulations to the following recipients of the 2023 Cure Cancer program grants:

  • Dr Eric Kusnadi (University of Melbourne, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre) – Prostate cancer.
  • Dr Susan Christo (University of Melbourne, Department of Microbiology and Immunology) – Melanoma and breast cancers.
