Dr Van de Wouw has received research funding to explore fungicide resistance

Dr Angela Van de Wouw from the Faculty of Science has been awarded a 2023 Mid-Career Industry Fellowship from the Australian Research Council.

The Mid-Career Industry Fellowships scheme will help solve industry-defined challenges using the expertise and skills of researchers from both universities and industry.

Dr Angela Van de Wouw will work with industry partners Marcroft Grains Pathology Pty Ltd and Syngenta Australia Pty Ltd on a three-year research project identifying key epidemiological factors contributing to fungicide resistance.

Resistance to chemicals impacts the ability to control many diseases occurring in crops. This research will aim to produce management strategies to minimise the risk of evolution of fungicide resistance, a key industry need.

These management strategies will then provide significant economic benefits by ensuring increased canola yields, while also providing health and environmental benefits through minimising the unnecessary use of fungicides.
