Karen Van Sacker

Senior Director Advancement, STEM and Indigenous

The Senior Director of Advancement for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Indigenous oversees the identification and development of opportunities for cross-faculty philanthropic support and negotiating shared service delivery to support the priorities of both the STEM faculties – the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning, the Faculty of Engineering and IT, and the Faculty of Science – and Indigenous Advancement (supporting the Murmuk Djerring Indigenous Strategy 2023–2027).

Karen Van Sacker joined the University of Melbourne’s Advancement leadership team in 2018 as Director of Divisional Advancement for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Since then, she has expanded her scope to include Indigenous Advancement, leading a program of change to attract high-impact philanthropy and corporate citizenship in alignment with Murmuk Djerring, the University’s Indigenous Strategy.

Karen has over 30 years of experience in fundraising, philanthropy and industry partnerships across the higher education and not-for-profit sectors in Australia, North America and Asia.
