Nancy joined the University of Melbourne as University Secretary in November 2023. Nancy leads a team of governance experts who provide high-level advice and support Council sub-committees, the Academic Board and its sub-committees, and University Executive, the University’s most senior management committee. The University Secretary administers and oversees secretariat support for the University’s controlled entities, manages University elections, undertakes the roles of the FOI and Privacy Officer for the University and is the custodian of the University’s Regulatory Framework, which includes the University Statute, Regulations, the Melbourne Policy Framework, and the Delegations Framework
Prior to joining the University of Melbourne, Nancy has had an extensive career in University governance and administration, working at UNSW and the University of Wollongong in Australia and the University of Sussex, the University of Bristol and The Engineering and Design Institute (TEDI London) in the UK. As well as University Secretary roles, Nancy has managed Complaints, Legal Services, Records, Resources, Student Administration and Safe and Respectful Communities functions within the higher education sector.
Nancy is passionate about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. She holds a PhD in History and Cultural Studies and Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) from the University of Wollongong, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Exeter.
