Office of the Provost

Led by the Provost, the Office of the Provost supports the achievement of the vision and objectives for education, people and community set out in Advancing Melbourne 2030. The Office of the Provost is responsible for strategic leadership in:

  • Academic policy and process
  • Education and student experience, including curriculum, teaching and learning quality and innovation, learning technologies and spaces, student wellbeing and engagement and widening participation for students from underrepresented backgrounds.
  • People and Community, including Human Resources, academic and professional staff careers, University community-building, diversity and inclusion for students and staff, and the Respect at Melbourne and Pathways to Politics programs.
  • Indigenous strategy, including research, education and engagement, partnerships, students and staff, truth-telling and cultural heritage.

The Office of the Provost collaborates with Faculties, other areas of Chancellery and external partners to achieve excellence across all these areas of strategic focus.

The Provost is the standing deputy to the Vice Chancellor and the Chief Academic Officer of the University, with responsibility for all of the University’s academic activities, including oversight of the nine Faculties. The Office of the Provost provides strategic leadership in all areas of academic policy, students and education, people & community, and Indigenous strategy and partnerships.
