Council meeting summaries
These summaries provide an overview for the University community of Council’s decisions and actions by reference to the Expert Council on University Governance Principles.
The University of Melbourne is established by the University of Melbourne Act 2009 (Vic). The University is a public-spirited institution with a mission that encompasses learning and teaching, research and knowledge transfer, all of which exist for public benefit.
The University of Melbourne Council is the peak body of the University and is responsible for actively overseeing the University’s strategic direction, governance, performance, property and business affairs, finances, risk management framework, culture and compliance consistent with its purpose and in the public interest. Council members are deeply committed to the University’s public-spirited role and its enduring purpose to benefit society through the transformative impact of education and research.
